PeriodPresidentPartyNotes
1990–1994 César Gaviria Partido Liberal
1994–1998 Ernesto Samper Partido Liberal
1998–2002 Andrés Pastrana Partido Conservador
2002–2010 Álvaro Uribe Primero Colombia / Partido de la U
2010–2018 Juan Manuel Santos Partido de la U
2018–2022 Iván Duque Centro Democrático
2022–present Gustavo Petro FSP Pacto Histórico / Colombia Humana First left president of Colombia. FSP membership of the Pacto Histórico coalition as such is not established here (to verify): its constituent Polo Democrático Alternativo and Partido Comunista Colombiano appear in Regalado's 2007 FSP roster, and forodesaopaulo.org published a solidarity statement with Petro and the Pacto Histórico. Petro's political lineage runs through the M-19 (see Armed movements) and the Polo Democrático. His term ends on 7 August 2026: Abelardo de la Espriella (Movimiento de Salvación Nacional) defeated Iván Cepeda (Pacto Histórico) in the 21 June 2026 runoff by 0.96 points — the narrowest presidential runoff in Colombian history; the CNE certified the result on 24 June, Cepeda conceded the same day, and Petro recognized the result while alleging fraud (his characterization). The inauguration is scheduled for 7 August 2026 and had not yet occurred as of this dataset's date.
