Jon Sobrino

b. 1938 · El Salvador

Jon Sobrino (b. 1938, Barcelona) is a Spanish-Basque Jesuit who went to El Salvador in the late 1950s and became a leading christologist at the Universidad Centroamericana (UCA). His liberation christology reads Jesus 'from the victims'. Abroad during the 16 November 1989 UCA massacre, he survived and chronicled its martyrs and Óscar Romero; a 2006/07 CDF Notification found 'erroneous or dangerous' propositions in his work.^{[1] [2] [3] [4] [5]}
