In the vocabulary of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, the gifts of the Holy Spirit enumerated in 1 Corinthians 12:8–10 — wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment of spirits, tongues and their interpretation — understood by the movement as given for exercise in the Church today. The stated purpose of CHARIS, the service body erected for the Renewal by the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life (decree of 8 December 2018), includes promoting 'the exercise of charisms' not only in the Renewal but in the whole Church. This entry reports the movement's and the dicastery's own usage.[1] [2]
